SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. — A 31-year-old woman died after she was attacked by an alligator while swimming in a Seminole County river.

The woman, whose name has not been released, was swimming with friends in the Little Econ River on June 28 when the gator attacked, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said.

The woman was taken to an area hospital, where she died, WFTV reported.

This was the third gator attack in Central Florida within the past week.

A gator bit a child in Marion County on June 27, while an alligator bit a snorkeler in the Rainbow River on June 21.

There have been more than 500 alligator attacks with 33 deaths since 1948, when the state started tracking attacks, WFTV reported.

The penalty for attacking alligators is too severe...

You can swim in the springs without trouble. They are crystal clear, and colder than gators prefer.

Never swim in the early morning or late in the evening, don’t bring a dog, don’t splash around like a wounded deer, and don’t get drunk.

Almost all attacks are on drunken fools who splash around or try to play Crocodile Dundee.

Right now with the drought the gators are more concentrated since they leave dry holes and move into already occupied areas that haven’t quite dried up.

Oops this 4 second clip was a tiny part of a hilarious scene in the Reno 911 series feature film. The officers watched a civilian get into a green algae murky backyard swimming pool and poke at an apparently deas alligator. Then surprise! a live one came out of nearby water and pulled guy under. Cops ran.
