Some folks think that one of the reasons for extending the ESU is keep people from switching to Linux.
I was planning to switch one Win10 machine in Linux (Microsoft wouldn’t let me upgrade to 11). Currently one Win7, two Win10, two Win11 (one of which was upgraded from Win10). Both computers and smart phones outnumber the humans in the household.
Frankly, if they’d sell me XP, I’d be happy to downgrade a couple of the machines.
I have only one machine in the home using Windoze. All the rest have been converted to either Linux Mint or Ubuntu. There is almost nothing found on Windoze that is not duplicated for linux. The few like Adobe who refuse you when you request a linux version can be ignored. There are dozens of linux utilities that emulate Acrobat, etc. Adobe etc will soon come around as their market share dwindles.
So forget M$ and their spyware-based operating systems.
