He and Robert Gallo pushed the idea that all of these Sodomites afflicted with a terrible disease was due to the HIV virus. And AZT was the perfect treatment. It turns out HIV can be endemic and is not necessarily harmful. What was harmful was leading a depraved lifestyle (dozens of random sexual partners a week) fueled with drugs which subsequently destroyed the person's immune system - making them susceptible to all sorts of noxious diseases.
AZT just added to the suffering of the patients. The only real treatment was - stop leading a depraved lifestyle. But, of course, that message was not allowed.
Fauci is up there with Mengele.
