Do not watch many commercials these days, but one really floored me.
The title of the commercial could have been Undetectable.
The medicine is Truvada Antiretroviral Therapy (ART).
With enough of the medicine, “some” people’s tests will result in HIV being “undetectable.” It does not say “gone” “cured” just.... we cannot detect it.
At the end of the commercial they made it obvious that, with the undetectable result..... “You can start dating again!”
What’s so deceptive about this false narrative is that “undetectable” isn’t a durable condition. Merely being off the meds for a few days, or encountering a drug-resistant variant of HIV in a night of anonymous sex still makes you a walking land mine.
