I really liked my little Subaru it was like a tiny station wagon, whatever they call that, great for traveling in economically.
I had a 1982 GL wagon that I bought for $1200 with 100K miles on it, and drove for 8 years before I sold it for $1000 with 215K miles. Had to replace the water pump and the CV joints during that time, otherwise just routine maintenance.
Great little car. 1.8L, 4-speed, 4WD but not enough ground clearance to do much offroad, good in snow and ice. Not all that fast, of course, but it would get 30-32 mpg at 65 mph forever.
I think we’ve found the new Popemobile.
