It’s funny that Jarrett isn’t aware of the Paleo Indians and the Miami and Mascouten peoples who lived there long before the tribes she mentioned. It’s worth noting that none of these early inhabitants had no permanent land titles, boundary markings or identifiers and no ownership records. They just lived around one area until it became too non-productive and polluted to stay. They just moved to a cleaner spot unless someone more brutal got there first.
It behooves people who act civilized and have civilzed habits to not be so utterly brutal to primitives living in areas that they desire. But that doesn’t mean being taken for chumps, just not committing genocide in the name of “progress” or “manifest destiny,” to keep treaties when made, and such. The Europeans who came in and took over and became known as “Americans” were not always quite so civilized. But what to do? The tribes who once inhabited what is now Chicago are not going to be able to just take over the city and hunting Buffalo freed from the Brookfield Zoo. So, maybe cash, maybe casinos, maybe some sort of a land grant out on the prairie, similar to what Chicago used to be? But stupid guilt tripping and virtue signaling is not only meaningless, but it’s also idiotic.
