I like that song, especially Janis Joplin’s version. And I thought you deliberately changed the lyrics. So I just checked. By golly, you’re right. It’s something I never caught.

I thought that was a reference to a needle for injecting drugs, but more likely “harpoon” is equivalent to “harp”, a term for a harmonica.
