Two years ago, I rented a Tesla Model 3 for 1 day in order to drive it for the first time in my life and make a Tesla review from the perspective of a petrolhead. I ended up actually enjoying the driving itself, I hated the user interface, the buttonless screens and probably most of all I hated the fact that the car was constantly beeping. When I went over the speed limit, when I changed lanes without signaling, when I got too close to the edge of the road and so on. After fiddling with the screen and the menus I managed to turn off almost all the beeping sources except one. There was one beep that stayed until the end and I couldn’t do anything about it. The car would beep randomly from time to time without any associated message or warning on the screen. I returned the car without figuring out what it is. ... I was foolish enough to believe that’s a Tesla-only thing because Tesla’s are obnoxious tech-obsessed cars for tech-obsessed people who actually hate driving. I thought Toyota is an old-school car brand and there’s no way it would beep and annoy me like that. Well, I was wrong, beeping and backseat driving is not a Tesla thing, it’s now an industry thing

If he can scale up for 2027, he could get rich.
I am an automotive Luddite.
The first anti-theft device....LOL!
Drunk and old people drove cars when there were only manual transmissions and standard key ignitions.
“we are moving to full self driving cars and there is very little reason to stop it.”
As someone who is pushing 80, I welcome this technology with the hope that the bugs can be identified and remedied soon.
But will my cars now PUH-LEEEEEZE stop beeping(?!?!?), and locking me out for no reason?
In nowhere near the frequency with automatic transmissions.
Many single-seater race cars still use “hand crank starting”. They put a big crank into the flywheel, press a button to fire up the motor and it spins the crankshaft until the engine starts. Indy cars still start this way, as do F1 cars.
Reading this moron I literally said OK boomer out loud. What a putz. FSD is the best product in the market for drivers hands down full stop. It will take you door to door hands free as long as you look out the windshield and there are ways around that as well. You car only nags if you are a shit driver which obviously this boomer mouth breather is.
Tesla got full L4 clearance for it’s FSD 14.3.3 in HW3+ and robocabs its only a matter of getting the damn bureaucrats out of the way for L4 to be at every 2022 or newer Tesla. I regularly ride in robotaxis in Austin they are great and much cheaper than uber or a smelly taxi driven by a who knows from where.
If you are drunk and tell your Tesla to drive you home..... but also jump into the Tesla’s trunk for the ride home. Can the cops still get you for DUI??
Tesla has not received Level 4 clearance for FSD. This rumor likely stems from confusion over recent software updates. The FSD 14.3.x series is classified as an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) requiring human supervision. Furthermore, legacy Hardware 3 (HW3) vehicles are still running an FSD 12.x branch and do not yet have FSD
I don’t know.
But the market for 1980,90s, 2000s vehicles is going to be strong. Nobody likes this AI crap.

“But will my cars now PUH-LEEEEEZE stop beeping(?!?!?), and locking me out for no reason?”
I never never never leave my keys in the car. Unless my drivers window is rolled down. Todays cars will bite you with a lockout. My electronic car keys are super visible on a red leash.
I bought a used Tesla in Nov before the price jump. You really have to live with the car for a bit to really appreciate it. But you do need a way to charge at home. It’s fun to drive just not exciting. (Buy a manual Porsche or Miata for that) I can go from a dead stop to highway speeds in 3 seconds. I am a crappy passenger so I don’t always use FSD. It does seem to error on the side of caution, stopping abruptly for yellow lights, or slowing down when someone is edging into traffic. You can use it on any road but it does get confused if there are no road makings. Ford’s Blue Cruise only uses mapped roads. Using Full self driving in bumper to bumper traffic is amazing. If you have a regular schedule you can have the car heat or cool every morning and afternoon before and after work. No key just your phone, and the car lets you know if you leave your phone in the car. I get in other cars and it feels like a Flintstone car.
“I never never never leave my keys in the car.”
We don’t, either. But it’s super annoying if you have to run and get something out of it and IT’S LOCKED! Arrrrgh...
The dealership will disable it when we take the cars in for service, but it returns.
