I’m thinking that pass would not pass a scan. Probably slipped into the line and some discrepancy in seating was discovered once the doors were closed.
The scanner response was either a Green Light or a Red Light. Nobody who gets a Red Light response passes through the door to the ramp. (IOW, nobody "slips into line".)
I suspect there is more to this story that we haven't heard yet.
