Mel Gibson's cancer cure claim linked to ivermectin surge, experts warn
MSN.com ^

A peer-reviewed study in JAMA Network Open found that US ivermectin prescriptions jumped 97% in the six months after Mel Gibson told Joe Rogan’s podcast audience that the drug, combined with fenbendazole, cured three friends’ stage 4 cancers. Researchers analysed health records from more than 68 million patients across 67 health systems. Prescribing rates rose 2.5-fold among cancer patients, with white patients, men, and those in the southern US showing the largest increases.

"'When prescribing for an unproven cancer treatment more than doubles after a single podcast, especially among men and people in the South, it raises a concern that patients may be skipping or delaying treatments we know work in favor of something that hasn't been proven to help them.'"

Experts warn there is no clinical trial evidence that ivermectin or fenbendazole can safely or effectively treat cancer in humans. While some lab and animal studies suggest possible anti-cancer activity, the doses needed could be toxic and may interfere with chemotherapy or immunotherapy. Doctors fear patients may skip or delay proven treatments, undermining survival chances and increasing health risks.

Gibson’s January 2025 appearance on 'The Joe Rogan Experience' reached an audience of over 60 million views in one month, amplifying his unverified claims. Researchers and clinicians say celebrity endorsements can quickly sway patient decisions, especially among those seeking hope outside conventional medicine. The study underscores how influential media moments can rapidly alter prescribing patterns nationwide.

There is no real way to attribute this to anything Mel Gibson has said.

This is nonsense.

The medical community shot their worthless wad during the pandemic. My daughter has been taking Ivermectin with a chemo. 16 months ago she was full of tumors in 8 locations and given 7 months of good health. She has been tumor free for the last 10 months. She ran 3 miles last week and we kayaked 5 miles on Sunday.

While there are studies in the lab involving animals, that is different than clinical trials.

The clinical trials that I’ve read about are not the “gold-standard” trials with double blind studies.

Still, these studies HAVE been peer reviewed and have been replicated, even with the self-reporting aspect.

“So there is clinical trial evidence”

AI
Ivermectin is currently under investigation in human clinical trials as a repurposed anticancer agent, primarily in combination with immunotherapy, but it is not approved for cancer treatment. Regulatory agencies like the FDA have not authorized ivermectin for any cancer indication, and no phase III randomized controlled trials have yet established its efficacy or survival benefits in humans.

Current research focuses on several key areas:

Immunotherapy Combinations: A notable Phase I/II trial (NCT05318469) is evaluating ivermectin combined with PD-1 inhibitors (balstilimab or pembrolizumab) for metastatic triple-negative breast cancer. Preliminary results from this study indicate the combination is safe and well-tolerated, with an observed clinical benefit rate of 37.5% in heavily pretreated patients, though the study is still accruing data.
Preclinical and Early-Phase Data: While over 20,000 scientific publications discuss ivermectin’s anticancer potential, the vast majority are preclinical (cell culture or animal models). These studies show ivermectin can induce apoptosis and inhibit tumor growth in various cancers, but effective concentrations in labs often exceed safe plasma levels in humans.
Real-World Observational Studies: A 2026 prospective observational cohort of 197 cancer patients using off-label ivermectin and mebendazole reported high adherence and self-reported clinical benefit (84.4%), including tumor regression in nearly half of participants. However, oncologists caution that these patient-reported outcomes are hypothesis-generating and lack the rigor of randomized controlled trials to confirm efficacy.
Safety Concerns: Experts warn against self-medicating with ivermectin due to potential risks like neurotoxicity and drug interactions, especially in cancer patients with altered organ function. The National Cancer Institute and other bodies emphasize that unproven use may delay effective, evidence-based treatments.
In summary, while ivermectin shows mechanistic promise in the lab and is being tested in early-phase clinical trials, it remains an investigational agent with no proven survival benefit for cancer patients as of 2026.

I have been looking at reports and opinions of Ivermectin for a good 4 months and I broke down and ordered some. I will post again in the next 5-6 months after taking it twice monthly and let ya know my experience with it is. (Only taking it as a pre-emptive medicine after 65 years I must have something that Ivermectin can address that I’ve picked up along the way.

So there is clinical trial evidence

No, clinical trials are only in humans, so the quotes don’t contradict themselves. That having been said, this suggests there is some evidence. Just not “clinical trial evidence.”

Dr Marik invented the “sepsis cocktail” protocol (hydrocortisone, vitamin C, and thiamine). I came across him while recovering from sepsis myself and looking for ways to prevent it in the future. He bravely came out about covid and they ruined his career over it.

Yes, he did.

And, yes, they did.

He is a hero and TPTB can’t have any simple solution heroics happening.

Hubby and I have been taking IVM, on a regular basis, since 2021.

Bloodwork and annual tests have shown what a difference IVM has made.

YMMV.

TPTB don’t want the masses to know what all IVM is good for.

IVM compliments MANY chemo protocols.

And, most likely/hopefully prevents the down-the-road side effects of chemo.

God bless and keep your dear daughter! 🙏🏻

There is an ongoing clinical trial for triple negative breast cancer where the results so far are 37.5% effective. But that was when used in combination with immunotherapy. And I don’t know how it was administered because Ivermectin is very unabsorbable so they might have administered it IV in that ongoing trial which would make a huge difference.

The other clinical trial they mention was just done by those internet doctors like Makis and they are not randomized placebo controlled trials so don’t hold much weight.

For those dealing with cancer I recommend this guy:

Elevating Cancer Treatment
https://www.youtube.com/@elevatingcancertreatment

He’s an immunologist who has been researching cancer drugs for 30 years. He’s on the conservative side not touting Ivermectin but not totally dismissing it either. But I’ve learn some interesting things from him about how a baby aspirin and apigenin (from parsley) can free up your killer T cells and make them work more effectively. How taking extra high doses of K2 (mk-4 is recommended) is able to disable cancer cells. And how the time of day when you receive chemo and/or immunotherapy makes a huge difference in both efficacy and avoiding side effects. Make sure your infusion occur in the morning. Everything he says on his channel has clinical trials to back him up.

I should also mention that the immunologist above does free consultations. He said he can read an immune panel more thoroughly than most doctors and might find something that the average doctor might miss.

These two drugs are effectively harmless.

Oh, and I took the horse paste, during COVID.

Aside from a whinny, I’m normal.

I have actually been able to have skin cancer peel off my body, from supplements, identified by studies, too.
