To be “catfished” means someone has tricked you by creating a fake online identity. Catfishers typically use stolen photos, fabricated life stories, and false names to deceive their victims, usually to manipulate them into a fake relationship, steal their money, or troll them.Much of the internet is inhabited by people who use fictional names. They may just want to remain anonymous, or use the fake name while trolling chat sites. Some use fake identities to commit crimes. Just remember and beware, much of what you see online is fake.
