Do they really mean typed, or do they mean printed? How could it be typed? Did the waiter have access to a typewriter? I doubt it. And in many/most restaurants and businesses, the receipts are on a roll inside a machine - usually a cash register of some sort. How do you type a message on that?

That was my question too. I wonder if the couple had a preprinted stamp they use just to get out of paying tabs.
