Shocking and heartbreaking.
HE COMPLAINED OF SINUS ISSUES
Perfect!
A sad day...
What made you say that? Moderator please remove that comment...
RIP.
I remember back when it was “Flu-like symptoms”.
Happened to a friend of mine.
Actually... It was a sarcastic reply meant to be lighthearted and comical due to the lack of factual information regarding his cause of death. The cause of death hasn’t been disclosed other than the statement that it was a ‘severe’ illness, so that could just about anything... Including Hantavirus, Ebola, suicide, etc., etc.
The very fact that he’s dead indicates that whatever the illness was... It was obviously ‘severe’ and that goes without saying. What they should’ve stated instead... The actual cause of his death. That would eliminate all speculation... Why they didn’t disclose the cause is odd.
i saw the interview..looked and sounded great...puzzling.
Here’s what we’ve learned:
Kyle was in the General Motors Technical Centre doing simulator work Wednesday when he collapsed and was rushed to the hospital.
From Facebook posts at Hickory Motor Speedway — fans noted Brexton was rushed out of Legends practice at Hickory Thursday after his father’s condition worsened.
thx for the update....scary stuff.
UPDATE:
Richard Childress Racing announced it will apply to NASCAR its intent to change the number from No. 8 to No. 33 (which will likely be given). This will be for Championship Points purposes. Austin Hill will drive the now No. 33 car at Charlotte.
For championship purposes, the owner points transfer will be important under NASCAR’s pandemic formula when rain cancels qualifying and also if the driver-of-the-week wins and the team makes the owners Chase. Instead of starting out with zero points, whatever Kyle Busch earned before his death will be retained for the No. 33 and although Austin Hill is ineligible for Cup points, whatever owner points he earns will be calculated for crew chief Andy Street and the No. 33 team. Another possibility is for Jim Pohlman to return to the crew chief of the No. 33 team and Justin Allgaier, a Chevrolet O’Reilly Series driver, drive the car for zero driver points. Jesse Love and Austin Hill will take turns. San Diego could be Earl Bamber (Cadillac FIA WEC, conflict with Watkins Glen IMSA for Sonoma week) and Sonoma would be Cooper Murray or Jobe Stewart of RCR-affiliated Erebus Motorsport (NAPA Auto Parts Supercars Championship, conflict with Darwin, NT for San Diego week).
Brexton Busch, 11 will join the RCR developmental driver system next year when he will be eligible to race in CARS Tour Pro Late Models in May 2027 when he turns 12 (minimum age in CARS rule book), followed by Late Models in 2029, ARCA short tracks and road courses in 2030, Trucks in 2031, O’Reilly in 2032, and all circuits plus Cup in May 2023. Mike Dillon (Austin’s father) could take over Brexton’s efforts in Legends and Madera Late Models.
In addition, for legal reasons, at the end of the season, Samantha Busch will legally be paid one-thirds share of the Owner Point Fund that goes to RCR’s No. 33 team (12/36 but they could adjust it Kyle’s percentage of the owner points is greater, they could adjust Samantha’s share as substitute drivers will be paid their share even if they are ineligible for driver points). That will be Kyle’s last official NASCAR paycheck in November. (In 2001, Teresa Earnhardt was paid 1/36 share of the Owner Points Fund that Dale made prior to his death at Daytona.)
Per USA Today and ABC also, IIRC, Busch was coughing up blood the day before, when he collapsed:

Underestimating a lung problem has killed a lot of people. That got one of my brothers.
This is what we’re hearing now. Kurt and Samantha will likely be doing ads for lung awareness. Too much carbon monoxide poisoning from 30 years of racing from Bandolero to Cup.
Busch’s first four seasons of national series racing (2001, 2004-06 plus 2007 Daytona 500) were the last seasons with leaded racing gasoline. There has also been use of leaded racing gasoline in Super Late Models. If enough lead poisoning is found in his lungs, there will be a call by NASCAR and many local racing officials to switch to unleaded racing gasoline at short tracks.
NHRA Pro Stock team owner Eric Latino’s Global Emissions Systems Inc. (GESI) has been testing catalytic converters and unleaded gasoline for NHRA Pro Stock with his KB Titan team he co-owns with a consortium. NASCAR already mandates mufflers at some races to improve driver safety.
In 2024, Latino (when the NHRA was with Sunoco), experimented with Sunoco’s unleaded racing fuel used by NASCAR from 2007 to 2010 (260 GTX).
Greg Anderson tested Latino’s GESI Camaro with catalytic converter, noticing it lost no power.
Do not be surprised to see Eric Latino and NASCAR test a GESI catalytic converter and muffler on a Cup car later this year potentially for 2027 with new rules in other Late Model classes to ban leaded gasoline. Leaded gasoline is being phased out of aircraft by VP Racing Fuels (NHRA provider) and LyondellBasell, which is developing unleaded Avgas.

I read he died from walking pneumonia in both lungs.
That’s scary. I was told after I was hospitalised at seven for a week I had walking pneumonia. If that’s the case, this means I would have to be more careful because it killed Wild Thing.
Statement from Bob Pockrass on X:
“The medical evaluation provided to the Busch Family concluded that severe pneumonia progressed into sepsis, resulting in rapid and overwhelming associated complications.”

How awful. Prayers for his wife and kids.
