“He voted against Trump” is only a scandal if you think Congress works for the president.
Conservatives used to understand this. Article I comes before Article II for a reason: Congress is a coequal branch, not a fan club. The House member from Kentucky is supposed to represent Kentucky, not ask permission from the Oval Office.
A big tent means there is room for someone who agrees with Trump when Trump is right and checks him when he is wrong. That is not swamp behavior. Blind executive loyalty is swamp behavior with a red hat on.
Actually only a certain district in Kentucky not the whole state. The whole state is supposed to be represented by the Ky senators. Notice I said “supposed to be”.
