I remember, many years ago, being on a business trip to the Boston area. As I was driving to my hotel there was a news break on the radio station I was listening to. The news announcer stated that the UN was releasing a request for proposals for a computer model that would predict global warming from CO2 emissions and that the contract would be awarded to the company producing a model that showed the greatest warming. Being an engineer I thought to myself “that is not how science works”. Then I thought that the announcer probably stated the part that was not meant to be shared. And then I thought “This thing is going to be a big hoax”.

This does not mean that there are no environmental effects of anthropogenic carbon dioxide. Some are beneficial, such as more productive crops, others are costly, such as 20-60% rate of increase in the accrual of fuels in forests and the consequent reduction in available water. These are demonstrable and quantifiable. The existing offset market should be rededicated to an honest system funding mitigations of these costs.
I quitclaimed my patent on a business method to monetize such a market.
