I’m not certain that this is actually illegal, or even improper, in Illinois. If you can’t take care of your kids, what kind of parent are you, anyway particularly if you have a good job?

I’m sure you say that in jest - but there is probably some truth there.
In Illinois this may be normal behavior. It is probably done all the time. It was less than a thousand dollars; its not like the mother ripped off a million.
