Yes. The lie is in exaggerating the effects. They told us it would get so bad that the rain would dissolve the clothes off our backs.

Sulfuric hydroxide can be dangerous in higher concentrations. So can any acid. Even one everyone has in the cupboard VINEGAR.

For example, I buy Green Goblin brand concentrated Vinegar. I use it for killing grass/weeds on my brick patio. It is about 40% vinegar(60% water). The stuff in the grocery store is about 5% vinegar.

I spilled some of this weed killer on my hand the last time I was filling the spray bottle. I didn't wash it off immediately. It actually burned my skin. Which eventually scabbed up and peeled. It kills the grass and weeds on the patio, but I do not have to worry about it killing the 50 year azalea bushes around the patio.
