When I was coming of age, soccer was pushed on us, and so was the metric system — and for the same reason: The rest of the world did it....I remember my high school physics teacher telling us back in 1974 that it was only a matter of time before we went to the metric system. 1974. And yet here we are. We went to the moon and back on the English system; no one else has gone on any other system.
As for soccer.... we are told every World Cup this will kickstart the growth of soccer in the US. Bah....

Expat SE Asia... pops brought us back to the states my sophomore year in HS. Never saw Anerican football until ‘71... soccer is cool, but Rugby is better.
