The rare gold object, which was richly decorated with serpentine animals, was probably an offering to the gods at a time of famine and societal turmoil, researchers I’d sooner believe it was hidden there so he wouldn’t be robbed of it.

I’d sooner believe it was hidden there so he wouldn’t be robbed of it. Same here. Lacking further direct evidence it was placed there as a sacrifice, it appears to be speculation by scholars to enhance interest in the find. The simplest explanation is always the best explanation; no need to make things up.

I’d sooner believe it was hidden there so he wouldn’t be robbed of it.It doesn't seem to matter where or what the find may be, archeologists often attribute a religious significance to the object.
