“Elbows up” is an idiom originating from hockey (notably Gordie Howe) meaning to stand firm, defend oneself, and prepare for a fight or to resist aggression. It signifies resilience and taking a strong, proactive stance in tough situations. As a slogan, it is used to advocate for protecting one’s space or values against bullies or, recently, in Canadian politics to represent national defiance against trade threats.”
