Thank you ... yes, I was responding to #20. I suppose there are some places in the world where household drains discharge, via an untreated sewer, into the nearest river but that has to be vanishingly rare in the civilized (and semi-civilized) parts of North America.
In the 90s a city councilman where I live was caught with a sewer line that ran from his home on the river directly into the river that runs through the city.
He’s lucky he didn’t go to prison.
The fines were astronomical.
