I’ve heard it said that Iran will soon run out of space to store the oil that they’re unable to ship. And I’ve heard that when that happens they’ll have to shut down the wells and that when that happens the well is pretty much destroyed.

I have heard the same, but I do not know if it is true. If it were catastrophic to shut down the wells, they could simply pump the oil into a pit or into the ocean, or pump it into a reserve ( if they have one) like the US strategic reserve.

In the early days of the Texas oil boom, they has so much oil they were putting it in open air pools. After several explosions and fires…they stopped doing that.
