FDR was a pretty darn good wartime president. He rallied the country, which was easy to do because of Pearl Harbor. Then he asked Congress for a Declaration of War. Everybody was on the same page.

None of this is happening today with respect to Iran. I’m not saying Trump is therefore in the wrong. I am saying he’s not holding the same cards FDR did.

I would say a few things are missing from the Iran war -as they were missing from Vietnam, Iraq, and Afghanistan.

Congress's power and authority are in there for a reason.
