It’s not even too much of a good thing.
Just about all car manufacturers make more money on their car loans than on the actual automobile. Now you can add these bs subscriptions to those loans. The ultimate will be when your A/C and heater will not work until you pay your subscription fees of $40 monthly.
Oh no way, I would find an alternative to ford, or get a used vehicle, anything to avoid ongoing charges
I have never used any of the “subscription features” beyond the free period. The market will push back against this money grab. Ford and BMW need to realize they are competing against BYD and other Chinese brands that will offer the same (or better) services for free, even if they take a loos in the short term, to put them out of business.
One more reason NOT to buy a new car!
If you don't like the product or service, don't buy it.
It's communists who believe businesses are evil because they are always trying to "grab your money."
Being able to hop in my ride and go just about anywhere at just about anytime has pretty much defined my life.
After Vietnam, that is
My car doesn’t have all the toys because I wouldn’t use them. I use my phone if I need GPS.
supply and demand...
I dont blame them as much as I blame the spoiled stupid masses that cater to these “Luxuries”. If you want to impress your friends that much, while paying for someone else to take care of you, then dig deep and spend your money fool heartedly...

I might be wrong, but I thought Toyota was the first to do this do this, maybe with heated seats?
I have an 09 truck.
I had found a way to disconnect the shark fin antenna from the computer.
Never executed
Will have to dig and find those instructions
I remember when you could buy a navigation option where you put the SD card in a slot - then you could actually get free updates. Then, Toyota decided to charge for the updates and I found a “hack” to be able t get them.
Now, they offer their own list of options, including navigation, Sirius Radio, remote controls to locate, lock/unlock/start, roll up windows, free for a year and then you have to pay. The only thing I actually liked was the navigation on my new RAV4 but I didn’t want to pay for the ‘extras” that went with it - went with Android Auto and it kind of sucked at first, but recent upgrades make it a useful option - that’s free.
Next car will probably be ordered with options I want and nothing else - or I;ll just let the other crap expire.
my truck has hand crank windows
good luck gettin’ option money out of me
They are going to act surprised when I turn and walk away from ANY car that has subscriptions to options. They all have computers now, and I do see digital options such as map enhancements or satellite radio available. What I would refuse are things like BMWs heated seat subscription, etc.
1995 F-150...Cherry. Bought new 31 years ago...The only options I purchased were electric windows and A/C.
Runs like a champ...Radio quit and replaced about 15 years ago...Will be buried with that truck
Weird listening to the guy next to my start his engine when the light turns green...
Very comforting being old school.
Of course, back in the day, if you wanted the option for the CD player they’d charge you $600. Which was pure profit. Before that the radio. So they’ve been ripping you off forever. They difference now is that the ripoff is continuous.
Nothing new, my 2018 Hyundai had three years free Navigation, Bluelink / emergency services. Renewed it year four when it was offered for half off. The last four years I have done without. Navigation still works but I have to manually fat finger in new address that I have not been to before. Voice input is part of the subscription.
