I noticed a huge amount of bruising around the Achilles, heel, ankle and foot. I had never had pain in those areas, (pull happened higher up behind knee and halfway down leg), so that was a mystery… would blood pool downwards like that?

I had something similar happen after my motorcycle accident. The damage was on the knee, but the bruise migrated.

That’s interesting and goes with what my mother had said. She had a car accident long ago and smashed her knee and the bruising migrated to the ankle/foot. It was just startling to me to wake up one morning after I thought everything was healing and find all this bruising around my ankle. Never got much bruising on the calf. Just a red mark about the size of a quarter that was very tender, so I figured that was where the tear happened.
