Can’t believe this isn’t a current requirement.
Ran it.
Constitutional Requirements (Unchanged Since 1787/1789)
There have never been natural-born U.S. citizenship requirements for members of Congress, federal judges, or most other federal offices. The U.S. Constitution has always set lower barriers for these positions than for the presidency.
● Rep. Nancy Mace proposed a constitutional amendment requiring natural-born U.S. citizenship for members of Congress, federal judges, and Senate-confirmed officers, matching the existing standard for president and vice president.
● The post cites Reps. Ilhan Omar (born in Somalia), Pramila Jayapal (born in India), and Shri Thanedar (born in India) as examples of potential divided loyalties, accompanied by a short video montage of their images with altered frowning expressions.
● Ratifying such an amendment demands a two-thirds vote in both houses of Congress plus approval by three-fourths of the states, presenting a significant barrier despite support from those favoring stricter allegiance requirements.

Should be the requirement for ALL federal employees, contractors, and contract employees outside of some very, very rare circumstances (such as working on a joint venture like the space station) where foreign entities can participate, with the full understanding that they represent their own countries and not ours.
