We should also remember that material used in a nuclear explosion is identifiable and can be traced... so, while the Demo'Rat Party can buy a nuke, if they use it we will know from whence it came... At least as I understand such things.

You are correct. Exploded or not, we can determine where the fissile material in the bomb came from.
There is not much more I can say about the devices except that they are smaller than you think they are. I have first hand knowledge of this.
