Trump spoke on May 1, 2026, at The Villages Charter School (Middleton area) in The Villages, Florida—a major retirement community. This was his first major public event after a foiled assassination attempt, focused on seniors, economic policies (especially tax relief), and rallying support ahead of the 2026 midterms. He was joined by figures like Dr. Phil, and the crowd was enthusiastic with policies like "No Tax on Social Security."

Here are standout quotes:

_ _ On past visits and Democrats: “Remember when Sleepy Joe and Kamala came to The Villages and said we love you more than Trump!” Followed by the crowd response, then Trump: “No you don’t you bunch of bastards!” / “You don’t love us more. You’re a bunch of phony bastards.” (A classic Trump zinger riffing on a previous Biden/Harris visit.)

_ _ Polling the crowd on policies: Trump asked the audience about key proposals and got big cheers especially for "No Tax on Social Security" (one of the strongest responses among no tax on tips, overtime, etc.).

_ _ No Tax on Social Security / Senior policies: He heavily promoted eliminating taxes on Social Security benefits (framed as ending "double taxation" on seniors), tied to the "One Big Beautiful Bill Act" (or similar phrasing). This was a core announcement/theme, with references to the Senior Bonus Deduction and putting seniors first. Dr. Phil joined in support, noting it restored an original deal from the program's early days.

_ _ Economic agenda and "Beautiful Bill": Trump touted the broader Working Family Tax Cuts, no tax on tips, retirement benefits expansions (including a recent executive order), and overall senior-focused relief as part of delivering the "largest tax break in history for American seniors."

_ _ Personal energy / Cognitive boast: He referenced acing cognitive tests and joked about being "much younger" or more energetic than the seniors in the audience (a self-deprecating/ boastful bit that played well with the crowd).

_ _ Other rally vibes: Energetic moments included dancing (e.g., to YMCA with golf swing flair) and broad boasts on the economy, border security, and foreign policy (e.g., comments on negotiations). He positioned the event as launching a "Golden Age/Golden Years" for retirees.

The speech lasted around two hours in a high-energy environment with strong senior turnout. Key themes centered on tax relief making life better for retirees, contrasting with prior administrations, and midterm motivation. Clips from RSBN, Fox, and others captured the crowd's strong reaction to the tax policies.

A major retirement community that has one of the highest rates of STDs in the country

Had people in line sleeping on an air mattress the day before Trump’s speech

The NBC TV station WESH looked for protesters and found less than a dozen

Side note: Have an acquaintance whose wife is a nurse for a doctor who has an office in The Villages and she says most of the residents there are trying to relive their youth in retirement.

I thought The Villages was a seniors-only community where residents were known for having a rollicking good time 24/7. Why is there a school in The Villages?

I have lots of friends and relatives in the Villages. It started out as a rather large community of 70-80 thousand. It's grown like mad and encompasses several counties. Today it's over 150,000 and about 80-90 square miles. It's one of the fastest growing places in the US. Originally, it was primarily a Rebpublican enclave. Over time buyers from the north and the south have made it still overwhelmingly Republican but with some commies. It's about 68/30% at this point.

Fortunatley, for us Republican retirement communities in Florida follow a similar pattern.

They help to counter the Dade/Broward, Orlando cabal which have a lot of commie/dems in the population.

it's huge and growing fast:
