1965 - The Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965 (Hart-Celler Act) becomes law abolishing the national-origins quota system in place
since the 1920s and shifting immigration patterns from Europe to Asia, Africa, and Latin America.

Democrat Senator Ted Kennedy states "The bill will not flood our cities with immigrants. It will not upset the ethnic mix of our society".

1970 - 83.3% (Non-Hispanic White tracking begins)

1980 - 79.6%

1990 - 75.6%

2000 - 69.1%

2010 - 63.7%

2020 - 57.8%
