I spen a wonderful year on top of a mountain in Big Sur, CA with a view of the ocean a mile below.
There were wild boar in the woods there and I had two little grade-school kids. We were always worried about the wild boar, though they were good garbage collectors. We rented the house from the son of Mark Hopkins, railroad Baron and builder of that hotel on Nob Hill. He told us just to toss our garbage “over the edge” of hill near our back door. “The wildlife will take care of it.” And of course boar were part of that. Thankfully none of them attacked us. Though I did have a run-in with a rattler one afternon........
My eyesight is not so great and I am always afraid of stepping on a snake if I go back in the woods. Copperheads blend in PERFECTLY with the leaf litter.
