Protocol calls for a “Designated Survivor”. Who was it last night?
“The person designated to stay away from major events like the State of the Union or presidential inaugurations to preserve the line of succession is called the designated survivor. Typically a member of the President’s Cabinet, this individual is kept at a secure, undisclosed location during events where the President, Vice President, and other government officials gather.”

There was a movie (1960s? Maybe) that had some calamity happen to US leadership and the next President ended up being a colored guy who was the US Postmaster General. Not sure if Postmaster is still in the succession line or not?
It would be interesting to know who the Designated Survivor was. If he/she has aspirations to be the top of the heap, it would be beneficial to take out all successors in one fell swoop.
