That depends on the context. African countries allow legal safaris to control the animal population and make a bit of money.
As long as the hunters obey the law, it’s all good.
It is the poachers that I have no sympathy for.
You make a good point.
Personally I think trophy hunting is stupid.
Hunting for food or removing destructive dangerous animals are perfectly acceptable.
I sat next to a South African safari guide on a plane once. He kind of implied that they have they=ir own way of permanently dealing with poachers.
Right, this hunter was paying big money to hunt these animals helping the local economy vastly more than poachers/bushmeat hunters, not to mention the meat is then shared locally. The elephant trample displays the reason troublesome ones are culled as well. Elephants can come in and kill villagers and destroy their homes. The money raised by the “white” hunters pays for game wardens and management of the wildlife. I can attest that there are very little wild animals in africa that are not under some sort of management paid for by expensive hunts or some other type of monetary system like safaris. so this hunter over the years has likely saved way more animals than he has killed. We as conservatives need to get over the furry animal blinders. We have one or 2 of these per year where everyone piles on against big game hunters.
