Because we grew up doing life on our own. We didn’t need helicopter parents, they were busy working. Participation trophies weren’t invented yet, we earned whatever we got and found solace in our successes. We also found wisdom in our setbacks, got back up, dusted off and gave it another go. We enjoyed good relations with every race we met and really didn’t have all the sex hangups the newly indoctrinated generations seem to have. Ymmv.

OH! ... miss lawn darts! ;^)
I feel like we are the oldest and middle siblings of a large family, and Millennials are the baby of the family who got all the attention and coddling we didn't. BUT... Millennials and Gen Z are both cooked, and we must have raised at least some of them. We didn't have helicopter parents, but a lot of us must have become helicopter parents.
Amen!
