On Monday, Florida changed its state welfare policy to exclude junk food from being purchased with SNAP funds.
The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program is meant to help needy people buy food by using tax money to give them supplemental nutrition.
The state of Florida is not telling residents that they can't buy soda and ice cream with their own money. It's telling them they can't use money taken from other Floridians to buy those items. You are free to be morbidly obese on your own dime.

the main problem with our system of government is that laws can be targeted to help or hurt any group, when the laws should always be fair and equitable.
Everyone should pay the exact same tax rate and everyone should receive the exact same benefits. It should be unconstitutional for ANY group to get breaks others dont. It wouldn’t be constitutional to pass a law giving only white people a million dollars, why should it be constitutional to give money to poor people that isn’t given to everyone else

Yesterday I noticed a large sign on our Safeway grocery store door...telling people it is a federal crime to sell EBT cards. First time I have seen such a sign.
