I was hiking in the Texas canyons along the border last month and saw multiple examples of Pecos River Style rock art, dated between 7,000 BC and 1,500 AD. The Witte Museum in San Antonio and the research non-profit SHUMLA are great resources for learning about and seeing the rock art up close.

The deer in the photo is hard to see, but takes up almost the whole photo. I ran the picture through a program called Dstretch that enhances the paint and could see it more clearly.
