“””””The biggest problem with the draft is training, disciplining, and instilling camaraderie among angry malcontents who don’t want to be there. The NCOs tasked with carrying this out simply do not possess the toolset required, seeing how they volunteered and have served exclusively in a military of volunteers since the day they enlisted.”””””
We use to have a permanent draft and it worked fine from 1940 through 1973 without interruption, the drill sergeants, including the ones who started out as draftees themselves managed to teach the recruits.
If our drill sergeants can’t handle the eternal scared young males with brains full of mush that armies have handled from the beginning of time, then something else is wrong in the military.
Not a single person serving in the military today was drafted. We are all volunteers, to the last man and woman.
We don't want to serve with conscripts. No thank you. Not worth the trouble. If you want to fight, enlist. Volunteer like we did.
If you don't? Stay away, by all means. We don't need you and we absolutely don't want you.
