When did you serve?
I did serve but one doesn't need to have served to make this case.
Saying one need to serve in order to validate the point is the Fallacy of the Inner Sanctum. Anyone can make the point, they don't need to be part of some Inner Sanctum.
I got to Lackland AFB for Basic Training to have the fall of Saigon happen halfway through training.
That allowed me to serve with draftees that had not had time in service to be discharged. My shift supervisor at my first duty station was one of those real sad sacks. The OSI arrested him for selling contraband, porn and more out of his barracks room.
Women have nothing to do with the question of the Draft.
We also saw that women had an easy out, just get pregnant. When I was a shift supervisor at my last duty station, a young cute WAF was on my shift. She was more interested in making sure her lip gloss was perfect than working the job.
She was able to snag a Sergeant in the Crypto Maintenance shop. Crypto Peeps had to walk through our Tech Control to get to their Crypto Maintenance Vault. &nsbp; I went to their wedding. Ten or fifteen years later, when we both worked for MCI, I won a region outstanding performer award and the former Crypto Sergeant had won the award too. I asked about his wife and he looked at me like I was crazy. They had been divorced for years.
