As recently as the 80s, males couldn’t be in girls dorms except for a few hours on football game day, the door had to be open and feet on the floor.

Oh, I remember the rules. There were even curfews for the dorms. And I can’t remember males EVER being allowed in female living quarters, only the common areas.
“Chapel” is still mandatory, at least for the first 2 year, and was changed to “forum” when I was attending. It was more of a speaking venue for guest speakers, after singing a few hymns and praying.
