The great satirical novelist Terry Southern (Dr. Strangelove), wrote in The Magic Christian (novel made into a movie with Peter Sellers and Ringo Starr) about a grocery store set up to have ridiculously low prices to help the poor. The poor people turned greedy and went of control grabbing everything off the shelves, pushing and stomping each other to get it all.
