Both Postmillenniumism and Amillenniumism hold that the Millennium is not to be taken as a literal 1,000 years, but as the period between the crucifixion and Christ's return.
According to my Catholic Study Bible, during this period "Christ reigns in a spiritual and sacramental way through the Church" rather than in a visible way.
