Yes,I am a veteran but not a combat veteran. For some reason the Army never ordered me to SE Asia. You’re absolutely correct to note that most of the guys who were ordered there (including your Dad) experienced horrible,ugly stuff and deserve our huge respect and gratitude. I was much luckier than many guys but I always followed orders and managed to get through 6 years (total...active and Reserve) without a medal for valor or a court martial.
