The fire protection systems are kept up to state code in buildings of that size and smaller, they are inspected and pumps and systems are tested and signed off as working and inspected by fire protection personel and the fire dept, what more do you think they should do?

I know because i’ve done fire sprinkler system testing and inspection myself. The inspections and testing are done routinely and they are no joke, especially in Ca where I’ve worked doing it, to think they didn’t have a fire protection system is ridiculous.

While it's a Free Republic tradition to not read the articles, it's far less of a tradition to not read the posts you're commenting about.

I never said there was no fire protection system. My point is that the fire protection system was likely rated for general warehouse use and not adequate for the storage of such a volume of combustibles.

The perp destroyed the entire building with a lighter and a stack of paper products. He didn't use accelerants or more combustible material, yet the entire building burned down.

Maybe keep an eye on what's actually being stored in the building and determine if the sprinker system can adequately handle it.

"There's paper products in here."
"A few pallets?"
"No. A few thousand pallets as well as hundreds of reams."
"Got it. The bucket and the garden hose are sufficient. Carry on."

And as for professionalism of State fire safety in California, this is the same state that had the Los Angeles Palisades fire destroy entire neighborhoods because the reservoirs were intentionally emptied due to potential structural failures. The same inspectors kept coding them as "under inspection" year after year because there was no money to rebuild them after discovering fraud from when they were built decades ago.

California is also the state of John Leonard Orr, a serial arsonist, mass murderer, fire captain, and arson investigator who reportedly set nearly 2,000 fires through the state, and not remote grass fires.

But yeah, the "good guys" would never miss anything or do anything wrong.
