I wonder if they are referring to therapy that involved the use of drugs or physical methods of conversions. Such things were not unheard of and those methods were not before SCOTUS at all. This was a free speech case not a medical malpractice one.
If you take the anti-conversion argument to its logical conclusion all forms of drug and alcohol rehab would be banned.
