The Los Angeles Dodgers are playing hardball with their most loyal fans, and this time, the boys in blue are looking more like corporate bullies.
Despite half a century of loyalty — long before the era of QR codes — the Dodgers flat-out refused to provide Segal with paper tickets for the 2026 season, effectively shutting him out of games.
Holding up a relic of a flip phone that definitely doesn’t support the MLB Ballpark app, Segal told local reporters that he doesn’t have an iPhone. In fact, he doesn’t know how to use a computer.
An iron-fisted “digital-only” policy seems to be the issue — which the Dodgers refused to waive even after Segal offered to pay extra for the privilege of a paper ticket.
“If I had the tickets one year, five years, 10 years, that’s another story,” Segal told a local outlet. “Fifty years I’ve had these tickets. They threw me under the bus.”
For the first time in decades, the devoted fan is considering skipping games entirely — even after being offered a refund for his seats.
“I said, ‘That’s not fair,'” Segal recalled, rejecting the team’s buyback offer.
The Dodgers, currently valued at an estimated $7.8 billion to $8 billion, apparently couldn’t accommodate a man who has supported them through thick and thin.
The longtime South LA business owner said he was still able to purchase a paper ticket at the stadium for a single game, but the team still won’t provide printed tickets for the full season.

Not loaded until you load it.
Let’s just say that the Dodgers bobbled this one. Definitely an error.
Print the guy his tickets , he’s paid for them .
A nice gesture for 50 years of faithful support of the team.
The Corporate office clowns don’t see it that way.
If he were an eighty year old tranny dressed as nun, I bet they would have found a way to accommodate him.
As Dean Wormer might say if he were alive today, sober, hardworking, white, and straight is no way to grow old today.
Wow, how generous of the Bums!
In this case, it ain’t a term of endearment.
Eat your bugs, suckers.
Same......they make everything nearly impossible.
This is coming for ALL transactions. You will see.
Or at least "they" will try.
My 88 year old mother has neither smart phone nor computer.
For some things she uses the phone. For some things my sisters help.
You are right. It must be rough on those who do not have helpful relatives and don’t use current tech. At some point not havig and using a smartphone will seem weird, like someone who didn’t have a private home phone line in the 1970s.
Wait until it’s all facial recognition and app based and paperless. I believe the Clippers have already started — no tickets, phones, or wallets, just bring a selfie and your card.
Not the same thing. But a fair enough analogy.
“Not loaded until you load it.”
It is loaded onto your phone when you view it.
Yes, I get that, not a luddite, I have bought without looking at it for several days. My point is for all electronics, if it can go wrong, it will. Paper is safe.
Note to MLB: In the immortal words of Russell Casse...
UP YOURS!!
“Paper is safe.”
Surveillance video shows her entering the store and unknowingly dropping the two tickets.
Minutes, later another customer walks in, picks up the tickets, walks around the store, then leaves.
That’s her problem it if you can’t hang on to a piece of paper. Still safer than a phone. Drop your phone same thing happens if the wrong person picks it up, it is gone.
It’s the same story for all pro sports. They have reached the tipping point where the TV money is now so big, they really don’t give a crap about the average fan. They are killing the Golden Goose and don’t even know it.
Racist ticket policy.
Fake paper football tickets were rampant here when the team was good.
When it comes to tech, the customer is always wrong.
And thanks to renewing the Patriot Act, the government pushes it to as it basically has carte-blanche to spy on those devices.
