Iran has to have several Nukes to even talk about whistling into MAD.

The reason they would need more than one is that a single point of failure for a single Nuke is incredibly risky strategy. They can be detected. Launching platforms can also be detected.

Also, while a single Nuke is terrible. The moment they use one Iran becomes the top world enemy with a giant sign that says, “invade me.”

So Iran would have to make several nukes. That’s not as easy as it sounds.

As of early 2026, Iran has accumulated enough highly enriched uranium (60% U-235) to theoretically produce9–12 nuclear weapons if further refined to 90% weapons-grade, a process that could take only a few weeks. While Iran holds the necessary material for several bombs, it has not officially initiated the final, technically demanding steps to weaponize its program.

You’ll note that Iran is pursueing uranium for it’s nukes. Uranium is used to make gun-type nukes which are much less technically demanding than the implosion (plutonium) type.

Good points. With nukes it’s never enough. I suspect Iran already have one or more. But they are deterred from launching them because they prefer living
