Golf legend Tiger Woods expressed surprise upon his arrest for driving under the influence following a rollover crash last Friday in Jupiter Island, Florida.
The incident occurred shortly after 2:00 p.m. ET when Woods’ Land Rover SUV clipped the rear of a truck and overturned on its side. No injuries were reported. Woods told deputies he had been looking at his phone and adjusting the radio when the collision happened.
Bodycam footage released by the Martin County Sheriff’s Office captured Woods, moments after the crash, ending a phone call and informing a deputy, “I was just talking to the president.” He was heard saying “Thank you so much” during the conversation, though the call itself was not recorded.
It remains unclear whether he referred to President Donald Trump, whose former daughter-in-law, Vanessa Trump, has been romantically linked to Woods.
Woods, 50, failed a field sobriety test, during which he exhibited impairment signs, including hiccuping and difficulty following instructions. He attributed his unsteady gait to seven back surgeries and more than 20 procedures on his right leg and ankle.
Deputies discovered two white pills in his pocket, which he identified as Norco, a painkiller containing hydrocodone. He acknowledged taking prescription medications earlier but denied alcohol consumption. A Breathalyzer test returned negative for alcohol, yet he refused a urine test, resulting in an additional misdemeanor charge under Florida law.
In the patrol car, footage showed Woods appearing to nod off. At the sheriff’s office, he maintained he was not drunk but on prescription medication. He was released on bail after eight hours and later fined $163, with a careless driving citation added.
Woods pleaded not guilty to DUI on Wednesday.
Shortly after, he announced he would step away indefinitely from competitive golf to seek treatment and prioritize his health.
Woods has since received court approval to pursue outpatient care abroad.
RE: meds....
Hunter Thompson: We had to duck in the convertible racing ahead on the highway every time the swarms of evil bats swooped down toward us.
“We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, and a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers... and also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of Budweiser, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.
Not that we needed all that for the trip, but once you get locked into a serious drug collection, the tendency is to push it as far as you can.”
― Hunter S. Thompson, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas: A Savage Journey to the Heart of the American Dream.
“He was LOOKING at his phone & changing the radio when the crash happened.”
Source?
Yeah, so was I. He just keeps texting me.
Not meant as a slam against you but just reminds me of the old quote:
“Why is it that when we talk to God we’re said to be praying, but when God talks to us, we’re schizophrenic?”
—Lily Tomlin.
In our state, it’s illegal to talk on the phone while driving.
DUI does not need to be alcohol. Prescription meds will do just fine to get you convicted.
If you heard some of the trashy rap songs on the current radio playlists you'd think about fiddling with the station buttons, too.
But after pulling over. Maybe to some choke and puke (Smoky and the Bandit line).
The misses tells me Tiger walked away from the accident in order to throw pills into the woods.
They trashed that rental car.
. Yep.
I don’t want to know who Tiger is any more. Great golfer, not so great man.
I think it was on Newsmax that I heard that President Trump won’t let Tiger drive his grandchildren anywhere. A Secret Service Agent drives the car when Tiger and the grandkids are in it. A wise move.
Sounds irresponsible.
Your post jogged another memory- talking to God:
“Well I talked to God I knew he’d understand,
He said sit by me son and I’ll be your God in hand.
But don’t ask me what I think of you, it might not
Be the answer that you want me to.....”
Oh Well (think its a Lindsey Buckingham write—Fleetwood Mac, an old “hit”).
Diagnostically speaking (and shouldn’t) Tiger does not look good in the mugshots or through the windows— eyes and face say “HIGH there!” Booze and pills. He should get a driver, cause he is going to kill someone, likely. He can afford it- and drivers have sign privacy/disclosures the works.
Golf is the only sport I watch on TV. Tiger has been a fabulous player for decades, nothing can take that away from him.
But someone has to get. him clean and sober and that someone has to be him.
Vanessa Trump has to STFU for her sake, Tiger’s and ours. Tabloids to the east of her, tabloids to the west. and she does NOT belong in the middle of that.
Wood’s efforts to try to “skate” by on this is telling of his lack of judgement and his conceited, arrogant narcissism. He has displayed this type of insolent, presumptuous behavior for many years and has lived a life of punishment to the many people.
Taking prescription drugs does not irrigate his responsibility on the roadways and he should be prosecute to the maximam with the final determination eh should not be allowed legally to drive a car again. He has displayed a continuous display of determined and suspected drug driving incidents. (2021 and 2017)

Ah, those were the days.
Give me two pellets of mescaline and keep the rest.
Actually, was in hospital with Vertigo recently. Pill that controls it is Meclizine. They kept offering that but most of the time I asked for Mescaline instead. Giggles all round.
I suspect the incident is indirectly related to his attempt at a comeback. At 50 years old and multiple injuries he was likely struggling to reach the performance level he would need to reach. Rather than accepting his physical limitations, I wouldn’t be surprised if started relying on pain killers and perhaps other medications to try to mask his struggle to get into game shape.
How many times have you flipped your car?
The man is a menace and danger on the road and should have his DL pulled. He's lucky he hasn't killed anyone...yet.
