We were in DC for that. We also went a few years ago when they broadcast the Apollo 11 message
I was in Subic Bay in the Philippines for the moon landings...:)
Hot, extremely humid to the point of shirt-drenching, brilliant and sunny, and we watched it on a small black and white television in a carport converted into a room on our house.
All we could see was a jet black screen with an intermittently visible, indistinguishable white smear or blob.
