Torn on how to fill the spot.
On one hand? AG is an administrative/cabinet position. It’s not like the role involves the AG actually litigating cases.
Zeldin *has* - quietly, without fanfare - done a really nice job at the EPA. Lots of reg and red tape cutting.
He does have a JD - but I don’t think he’s ever practiced law. I’m not saying that’s a disqualifier.
Honestly, my concern? I think too many people nowadays want flash and memes and loud, truculent happy talk — and have completely unrealistic expectations. Charge everyone! Convict everyone! Lawfare uber alles! That’s just not realistic.
Bondi tried to go that route - and it has been a disaster. People like to complain about Potato Joe and Garland’s lawfare - but the fact is, the *federal* courts actually throttled it more often than not, too.
My fear is that whomever is the pick? People will just have unrealistic expectations.
Zeldin has done an outstanding job at EPA—real accomplishments undoing a disastrous fifty years under both parties.
Thanks... best analysis seen here.
Like arrests and stuff and the response will be it takes a long time to put these big cases together. And the band plays on. How long did it take the dems to put a few hundred J6ers in jail many without any trial or even a hearing, denying many the right to have counsel. How many of our heroes complained eve a little bit?
