Whether you like it or hate it, the war in Iran has definitely had the effect of exposing some of the ridiculous fantasies in the world to a serious dose of reality.
Consider the UK. After implementing an expansive welfare state in the latter 20th century (e.g., free health care for all!), the UK since 2000 has gone all-in on the idea of an energy system free of hydrocarbon fuels. The 2008 Climate Change Act — passed with an overwhelming majority including support from all major political parties — committed the UK to 80% reduction in carbon emissions by 2050. That mandate was then amended in 2019 to make the legally-binding target for 2050 what is known as “net zero” carbon emissions. That change got passed essentially unanimously in Parliament, without even a recorded vote.
Here in the 21st century, the UK has pursued its net zero fantasy with a vengeance. Wind turbines and solar panels now cover the countryside. Many power plants that use coal or other fossil fuels have been closed. Perhaps most important, the UK has banned essentially all exploration for and development of fossil fuel energy within its own borders, including offshore in territorial waters. Although there are large shale-gas formations beneath the UK, the practice of “fracking” to exploit them has been subject to a moratorium since 2019, and the current Labour government has vowed to make that moratorium permanent. The current government has also not issued any new licenses for drilling for oil or gas in the North Sea, and says it will continue that policy, although a small amount of drilling continues under pre-existing licenses.
The logic of these policies appears simple: carbon emissions damage the environment, and after all, we can get all the energy we need from the free and abundant wind and sun.
Into this mix has dropped the Iran war, and the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. Maybe things were not as simple as they had seemed.
In the past few days, a serious shortage of aviation fuel has arisen in the UK. The shortage is not limited to the UK, but apparently is particularly acute in that country. From the Daily Mail today:
[The] Iran war has continued to wreak havoc on the aviation industry, and the UK could soon be experiencing a jet fuel shortage. The last known shipment of jet fuel to Britain from the Middle East is expected to arrive within 48 hours amid alarm over shortages within a week. Data providers Kpler and Vortexa say the consignment on the Libyan-flagged Maetiga vessel is expected to reach the UK from Saudi Arabia on Thursday. The blockage of the Strait of Hormuz due to the ongoing conflict means no other cargoes heading to the UK from the region can be seen on the water, they added.
What, you mean the wind and sun aren’t going to work to fly the airplanes? It’s almost impossible to believe how naive and detached from reality these people are. The wind and sun are also not going to work to run industry, agriculture, or ground transportation. And for that matter, they are not going to work to provide continuous, reliable electricity, which is the only type of electricity worth having. But the immediate crunch is hitting the aviation fuel business.
President Trump reacted with a message that you may have seen, telling the UK and other European countries to “Go get your own oil.”:

They have been living in a fantasy world, where the U.S. defense umbrella has meant that they never have had to face reality. If this turns out to be the event that breaks the net zero nonsense, so much the better.

perhaps more accurately stated as:
Gaia Worship, Open Borders and Socialism are the UNHOLY trinity for western elites.
That is true and highlights turning away from God and become an accepting secular nation ripe for infiltration and internal conquering. We are on the edge of committing to that end as well.
Satan needs the West pulled up by the roots, to become diminished to be brought to heel before his anti-Christ ‘Beast’ system can rise up.
One way is to begin with a powerful delusion so they will believe the lie.
Then to break apart long standing alliances, to create severe vulnerabilities like how we have been dumping our armaments into the black hole of manufactured wars and rumors of wars.
Or where we’ve been flooded in with outside military aged foreign invaders that could have never reached across our lands on their own without the trojan horse of the anti-Christ WEF ‘planned migration’, their orchestrated chaos and ‘ethnos against ethnos’ to break apart communities.
We’ve had our economic and money system debased and then USAID intentionally flooded out the door and left today with only the appearance and uncertainty of being better than others while newer and more controlling Digital ID and Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs) are being invented and so on.
Then comes the final tipping over point, the daily zoom call wargaming their CIA ‘color revolution’ Marxists tactics of UAP/UFO so called ‘disclosures’ to crack foundations to make entire populations more pliable and easily controlled.
This last one is the worst, because it comes in with a form of truth and obtaining a very real spiritual ‘authority’ for Satan that will further empower and strengthen his efforts to establish his rule over the Earth for the last days.
This all reaches a boiling point soon.
Good post. Thank you.
“The US unilaterally created a problem for Europe”
oh, give us a break ... no one here but you would believe such nonsense ... for one thing, the minute Iran achieved nuclear weapons, they’d blackmail the world with a massive toll on the Strait of Hormuz and the EU and would be 100% in their power, no longer having a blue-water navy or ability to produce reliable electricity ... china of course would get a free pass, and russia would benefit from the YUGE increase in oil prices, and even producers like we in the USA would suffer tremendously because petroleum is a fungible product with global pricing set by global petroleum companies like Shell, ExxonMobile and the rest ...
anyone with a minimal knowledge of the long history of piratical behavior of the muslims in the mideast, the essentialness of petrolatum to the foundation of modern civilization, the announced intentions of Iran to destroy Israel, and the overriding intention of muslimism to take over the world, would know exactly how things would end with Iran obtaining nuclear weapons: either Iran controlling the world or a nuclear WWIII .... period ...
“Britain has misculculated, again.”
Big time miscalculation, it would appear that the whole ‘Brexit’ scenario didn’t make much of a difference in the big picture. You’ve got the energy problem on one end and the uncontrolled invasion of illegals on the other end. I see a break-away push for some of these countries, it’s not going to end well but we will have to wait and see. The countries on board thought that they would be a reckoning force together, yet their political ship is sinking because of a giant hole in the bottom.
“WW2 gutted two generations of manly role models and the following gens are reaping that loss now.”
gutted the genetics too ... many world empires end with weak rump nations that way after too many world wars kill off their strong and valiant best, good examples being Italy, Greece and Scandinavia ... China mostly fought civil wars and never even got to Japan, so that might have helped them maintain the genetic strength of their people ... The Persian Empire got conquered pretty quickly, so didn’t have to fight too many lengthy global wars, so the Persians are still a vital people genetically ...
Let’s take your lies apart:
“The US unilaterally created a problem for Europe”
Well, no. Iran created a problem with missiles and exporting of terror, including murder and hammering nails into the vagina of a young woman attending a music festival. Trump finally did something about it just as Iran was literally having a meeting about finalization of 11 nuclear bombs, all of which could reach Europe.
“and now begs Europe for help,”
There is no “begging.” There is a demand for Europe to step up and do its part to secure the world trade of oil (that benefits Europe, not the USA), as we are done doing the heavy lifting for free riders.
“while at the same time the US claims it doesn’t need Europe’s help.”
America doesn’t need Europe’s help. Would it be nice to take direct flights from American bases sitting in Europe to protect Europe? Yes. Would it be nice for European nations to a fair share? Yes. But none of it is necessary.
What it shows in the “partnership” with European nations is for the benefit of Europe. They can now get stuffed.
“We have plenty of our own.”
like all essential commodities, petroleum is fungible and produced worldwide by global corporations and therefore has worldwide pricing ... just as with all precious metals, a single country can’t set internal pricing independent of world pricing unless said country has a non-market based, 100% centrally controlled and “planned” economy and is 100% isolated from the world [like the failed Soviet Union], and even then such pricing controls are doomed to failure as history has demonstrated repeatedly ...
That is why it is incumbent that Trump wrap up the Iran War quickly, so that the economic stresses caused by the war will be relieved. If people feel better about their well being and the war is over, the Republicans may be able to do better than we now expect.
“oil is not just petrol. It is chemicals essential for modern industry, fertilizer and pesticides
And the transport that delivers all of these things”
[said chemicals also being the foundation of plastics and medications]
petroleum and natural gas and even coal are *THE* foundation of modern civilization ... without those substances the world population would be revert to a few million living in caves and huts, burning wood for heat and light, with a horse based economy ... period ...
the history of world civilization is a history of energy, proceeding from human powered everything, to horse powered everything, to water-wheel powered machines, to steam engines powered by burning wood, to steam engines powered by burning coal, and finally to gasoline, diesel, and natural gas powered engines that power the world ...
that the so-called “educated” and so-called “enlightened” don’t understand these basics is a travesty of failed education ...
Sadly, there are probably people who would believe that.
Yeah, no.
First of all, President Trump said US bombing strikes “completely and totally obliterated” Iran’s key nuclear enrichment facilities; a final bomb damage assessment of the strikes was still ongoing as of August 2025. A July 2025 Pentagon assessment found that Iran’s nuclear program was likely set back around 2 years.
So were they to believe us then or last month?
Second, if there WERE an immediate threat, why has the US not shared any intelligence of that threat with our allies, or, more importantly, WITH THE AMERICAN PEOPLE?
Third, President Trump told the Brits IN THE FIRST WEEK OF HOSTILITIES that the war was won and their offer of assistance was too late.
And now, for weeks, the Administration is sulking because the Europeans aren’t relieving a blockade which we provoked, whether rightfully or not.
We were happy to go it alone on this excursion (alone except for Israel,) and now that this excursion is dragging on, we’ve decided to make it a litmus test for our un-consulted allies.
If we’re going to pull the plug on our alliances, just let’s do it already. Our current stance looks weak and petulant, certainly to China and Russia.
Great post about leftist fantasies about energy.
Now do one about right wing bombing fantasies.
Sorry - you are mistaken.
In case of USA government price controls, USA producers would stop selling their oil to Americans and sell all of it to international buyers.
If the USA government compels USA producers to sell only to USA customers, USA producers would stop searching for new oil and gas reserves, and reduce the amount they are currently pumping.
“The US unilaterally created a problem for Europe and now begs Europe for help”
The purpose for attacking Iran is to stop them from becoming a nuclear threat to the entire world. That’s the problem. The problem is not something the US created.
That was our stated reason. Based on zero evidence for the Europeans or more importantly for American citizens.
In July of last year, President Trump said our bombing raids obliterated (his word, not mine) the Iranian nuclear threat. A Pentagon assessment said that their nuclear program was likely set back two years.
“Our current stance looks weak and petulant, certainly to China and Russia”
LOL
No, we look like an impossible enemy that outclasses them at every level.
Go peddle your crap where people are not informed.
Another reason for smart isolation of sorts. Quit letting the world run our economy.
“That was our stated reason. Based on zero evidence for the Europeans or more importantly for American citizens.”
More than zero evidence but room for doubt since no one knows exactly what Iran still has hidden.
Efforts to tamp Iran down need to be ongoing, like their ongoing terrorist efforts to take over the world.
