A farm was commandeered so we could land some planes. Turns out it was too sandy to take off again, so they abandoned them for some lighter planes. Once everyone was out an secure they sent back fighters to destroy the C-130's.
When the Colonel hit the ground from the punch out he was unconscious with a concussion. That's why he didn't activate his beacon immediately. He found a place to hide at altitude and waited for the extraction. He was extracted via helo.
Israel provided air support for the operation and stopped attacking the territory when the rescue was taking place. Any IRCG in the area of the operation we eliminated.
Thanks for the details.
It took ‘em awhile but this morning they explained that the first two C-130s were bringing in small helicopters to search locally and evacuate. The field they landed on was an un-used farm field and was wet as well as sandy, probably from being un-used.. Just taking a WAG I expect they could have taken off empty but if they couldn’t haul a load their job was done. Kind of like WW II gliders.
Thanks for this information on the rescue mission.
